Eighth Avenue is a eighth ave north—south avenue on the west side of Manhattan in New York City, carrying northbound traffic below 59th Street. The avenue ends north of th Streetand merges into the Harlem River Drive.
Occupying the entire block bounded by Eighth Avenue, West 50th Street, Ninth Avenue and West 49th Street, this two-million-square-foot mixed-use complex offers a unique workspace. A story state-of-the-art office tower, Worldwide Plaza stands alongside a curated outdoor plaza and is surrounded by dynamic retail, dining, entertainment and recreational facilities, with on-site parking, fitness center, and five-stage off-broadway theater. The building features robust infrastructure, 20,,square-foot floor plates, foot average slab heights, spectacular views, and column-free tower floors. Comprised of a granite base, a brick shaft and a striking copper crown, the design references the classic setbacks, materials and coloration of the great Art Deco and Expressionist towers of s and s New York. Built in , the building faces two residential towers across a public plaza with a fountain designed by Sidney Simon and a unique theater center currently occupied by five off-Broadway companies. When the building was demolished, the neighborhood rallied to establish height codes — which now ensure that Worldwide Plaza will preserve its stunning views of a classic West Side neighborhood famed for its varied restaurants, street life and proximity to the Theater District. It was formerly an enclave for Norwegians and Norwegian-Americans, who have recently become a minority in the area among the current residents, which include new immigrant colonies, among them Chinese and Arabic -speaking peoples. Parts of it have been colloquially re-christened Little Hong Kong in recognition of these newer communities. This dish may be called "brun lapskaus" stew made with gravy, "lys lapskaus" stew made with vegetables and pork meat or "suppelapskaus" where the gravy has been substituted by a light beef stock. Nordic heritage is still apparent in some sections of the neighborhood. The parade features hundreds of people in folk dress who march along Fifth Avenue. The parade ends with the crowning of Miss Norway near the statue of Leif Ericson.

Renderings have been revealed for The Torch, a 1,foot mixed-use supertall skyscraper at Eighth Avenue in Midtown , Manhattan. Designed by ODA with SLCE Architects as the architect of record and developed by Extell , the story structure will span , square feet and yield an room hotel on the lower half and a public outdoor observation deck with a drop ride attraction above. The property will also feature lower-level retail space, a restaurant on two of the upper floors, a VIP lounge, and a pool deck for hotel guests. The other new images focus on the foot-tall stem-like section of the tower, which features a spiraling geometry that widens as it rises and is interspersed with cutouts adorned with lush greenery.
