David studied geotechnical engineering at The Ohio State University. David graduated from Samford with a degree in business administration. Soon after graduating, David became interested in applying his background in geotechnical engineering and his degree in business administration to a new course of study in ornamental horticulture, in which he earned state licenses in Landscape Design LD , Horticulture SLP and Ornamental Turf Pest Control OTPC. In , David started his own landscaping business which has grown into DSLD Land Management that he operates alongside his three sons.
