Armor in Dragon's Dogma provides defensive properties and protects the Arisen and Pawns. Armor is divided into five main categories based on the slots they can be equipped in: Head, Torso, Arm, and Leg Armor, and Cloaks. Outfits are armor sets that take up all armor slots except for the Cloak slot. There are a total of individual pieces of armor 87 head pieces, torso pieces, 67 arm pieces, leg pieces, 39 cloaks, and 19 full-sets. Armor can be obtained as quest rewards, purchased at a Merchant , found in chests around the world, or dropped by bosses. Many, but not all, armor pieces and sets in Dragons Dogma are locked behind certain vocations. While you would have to check these restrictions individually for each armor set, there is a general rule of thumb you can follow:. Armor can be first upgraded through Enhancement. Armor is enhanced through combining weapons with Materials dropped by enemies or found while exploring. Any piece of armor upgraded this way will gain a star rating up to the maximum of 3 stars. Armor can then be further upgraded through Dragonforging , in which any armor equipped when the party kills a dragon has a chance of being dragonforged. Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen introduced a final way to upgrade equipment after Dragonforging - Rarifying. Similar to Enhancement, armor can be rarified by combining them with Materials and Rift Crystals.

The Abyssinal Armor is an armor set usable by all vocations and can be obtained when you defeat the Grigori dragon, which is the main dragon boss, you know, the one that took your heart. Some interesting points about the Abyssinal Set are:. The Abyssinal Outfit has one of the best piercing and striking resistances of every item of chest clothing. You can get complete resistance to petrification once you upgrade your armor, which is a massive advantage, believe it or not. This armor is usable by the warrior, fighter, and mystic knight vocations.
