Dragon's appearance is a blend of Western and Eastern Dragon anatomy; possessing the head and white hair of an Eastern dragon, and the body and wings of a Western dragon. He is predominantly aqua blue with a darker blue underbelly, and has yellow scales on his forearms, hind legs, shoulders and upper leg joints. Dragon's eyes are now diamond shaped, the hair on his forehead has been reduced, the wrinkled scales on his face have been reduced, and the mane running down the back of the neck is slimmer with a dark-blue spine running down on both sides. He also has smoother scales, blue tendrils, sharper horns with a dark-blue strip, golden armor around each eye, a silver blade sprouting out from each cheek, and a gold-skinned jawline. Dragon's blue skin running from the inner neck down to the tail is now dark-blue, he now has a red and gold-bordered pendant on his chest, the scale pattern on his shoulders and thighs have lessened and run diagonally; his shoulders have gold pieces, and his tail tip has become sharper.

In practice however, since all Gravity Rings are plastic instead of metal like Takara Tomy's Armors, they are all around the same weight and offer no differences in performance, with the main difference between them being only aesthetic. As any differences in the weight distribution of a Combination are negligible, it is generally recommended to use the heaviest Gravity Rings, which are 4, 4' , 10, and 10'.

Takara Tomy's Dragon is a right-spin DB Core that features the head and claws of a dragon, akin to its predecessors in the Dragon line. Like the Valkyrie 1 DB Core, Dragon features a gimmick: when struck by an opponent, a built-in spring mechanism causes the DB Core to rebound, which allows a Dragon combination to perform Bound Attacks. While in theory this improves Attack potential, in practice this gimmick is to the detriment of an Attack combination, as the rebound, combined with strong impacts, can cause the combination to Burst. It is thus better suited in Defense and Stamina combinations, where the gimmick increases Defense. While Dragon is functionally similar to Valkyrie 1, it has stronger Burst Resistance and a more compressed spring. The more compressed spring of Dragon means it has a shorter rebound distance than Valkyrie 1, while retaining the defensive properties of the gimmick. It is consequently recommended for use in right-spin Defense and Stamina combinations.
