Now for the explanation of only 4 stars; The box came in great shape, opening it was difficult, especially if you want to make sure that if there is something wrong you can return it. Contrary to not needing tools stated on the box, that is a LIE! The instructions are simple to understand. The metal can scratch when putting together, needing tools to "bang" in place should be listed in the instructions. Lastly is the quality control, If I didn't need the cage as fast as I did I would attempted to get the door panel replaced. I highly recommend spending the money or if you can get a deal on this do it, for the piece of mind and quality its worth it and you pet will love it too. This one has horizontal thin bars so it's hard to see our guinea pig through it and the ferret nation version is better because it has vertical bars.

We took advice from our friends in rat , chinchilla and other small animal clubs and as a result we would like to present the critter nation. The design of the critter nation has many of the same benefits as they ferret nation but it has slightly closer mesh. The reason it has closer mesh is to prevent the smaller animals from escaping. The Midwest critter nation requires no tools to put it together and assembling the cage therefore is really easy! The design uses interlocking panels to securely lock the cage panels in without needing screws , nuts or bolts. The great thing about this cage is that you can also turn it into a triple simply by adding one of the add on units. This makes these units really versatile for keeping numerous small animals. What is a sugar glider? Sugar gliders recognize the people that handle them and express affection and displeasure. They are social animals and do better in pairs. Sugar gliders can be very vocal and loud and bark much like a small dog. Wanting to keep the box in case the expansion wanted shipping back, it took me about 30 minutes to get through the multiple staples on one side, at which point I was able to take the pieces out one-by-one. It was easy to assemble and had clear and thoughtful instructions. Got it as a Christmas present for a daughter so it sat in the garage, in hiding for a while before we discovered the problem. The thing we like most about our Critter Nation is that both the doors on each level open easing access to cleaning the platforms and maneuvering things around in the cage like the shelves, hammock, water bottle, litter pan, or hanging toys.
