This sedum is a most handsome succulent. As it grows it gets very thick with those trailing stems heavily laden with overlapping plump, juicy leaves which form a groovy braided pattern. As you can imagine, a mature plant gets very heavy. This plant is not for a flimsy pot with a flimsy hanger. Light: Sedum morganianum likes bright shade or partial sun. It will burn in strong, hot sun.

They have distinctive, trailing stems covered in small, plump, mint-green leaves which grow packed along the stems, which can grow to nearly a metre long given the right conditions. They can be enjoyed outdoors with winter protection if you live in the UK or anywhere with freezing temperatures , or indoors with sufficient light. The little hairs are definitely normal, they are the roots, so after another month or so you will see tiny bumps which will be the new leaves.

One way is to take stem cuttings in the spring or summer. Cut off a inch section of stem just below a leaf node. Dip the cut end in rooting hormone and plant in well-drained cactus potting mix. Water lightly and place in a bright spot but out of direct sunlight. Keep the soil moist but not soggy and within weeks, you should see new growth. These can be carefully removed from the mother plant and potted up on their own. Just be sure to use a sharp knife or shears so as not to damage the main plant. Allow the offset to callous over for a day or two before potting up in well-draining cactus mix. Donkey tail is a low-maintenance plant that does well in most indoor environments. To propagate donkey tail, simply snip off one of the stems near the base of the plant.

We still remember the day when we first saw donkey tail plants at our local garden center. They were these beady, string plants that indeed, look like tails.
I have had no luck at all when it comes to propagating Sedum Morganianum from the leaf "buds". In just three years this has gone from a small propagation experiment to a truly stunning plant. I'm hoping someone can help me! As a rule, plants in clay pots will dry out faster as will larger plants in smaller pots.
