These fruits are extremely rare in the four Blues of the world, however, they're very common in the Grand Line. These fruits, once consumed, devil fruit, grant tremendous powers to people but strip them of their ability to swim. While all Devil Fruits in the story make their users stronger than they were before eating them, some of them aren't all that useful and offer very small advantages, making them some of the worst seen in the story so far.
This article contains spoilers for the Wano Country arc and minor spoiler for the Egghead Island arc. A good power system has become a must in any shonen series. Some fan-favorite power systems include chakra from Naruto , nen from Hunter x Hunter , or quirks from My Hero Academia. While many of these are the result of careful planning to create complex yet tangible battles, there aren't many that are as full of personality and zaniness as the Devil Fruits from One Piece. Devil Fruits are magical fruits that grant their eater powers — such as the ability to control gravity, revive from the dead, or become mochi — at the cost of being unable to swim.

In the vast world of One Piece , Devil Fruits are some of the rarest and most sought after treasures on the open sea. Recently it was revealed that every Devil Fruit essentially is the manifestation of a dream someone once had given form. With their wide range of abilities at hand, each granting incredible powers and abilities to their users, Devil Fruits are coveted by pirates, marines, and revolutionaries alike. An incredible range of abilities can be granted by eating one of the Fruits, which can be organized into three primary categories: Paramecia, Logia, and Zoan. With that being said, not all Devil Fruits are created equal. Some are vastly more powerful than others and can grant their users abilities that are truly a notch above the rest. While all Fruit users are rendered powerless when exposed to water, some are more than worth the risk. The most skilled Devil Fruit users also find creative ways to turn their basic abilities into something more complex and powerful. However, the events of the Egghead Island arc revealed it only to be the tip of the iceberg. Bonney's Age-Age Fruit allows her to access Distorted Future versions of herself and anyone she touches. It was initially believed her power could only alter someone's age, potentially a one-hit kill if she reverted someone to be too young or too old. Manga chapter had one of the Five Elders elaborate on Bonney's powers , saying they " This revelation proved that the potential of Bonney's fruit has almost no limits.

Devil Fruits are mysterious, distinctive fruits scattered throughout the world , known for permanently granting their eaters superhuman powers and an equally permanent inability to swim. With only one notable exception , an individual can only acquire the powers of a single Devil Fruit and survive, and once they die, the fruit is reborn for another to eat. Every Devil Fruit grants a special power to anyone who eats it, from the simplest abilities to highly destructive ones, and incredibly bizarre ones too. Some fruits grant powers that are similar to others, but each one is unique in their own way; that said, there is no natural Devil Fruit that has the same exact power as another. These fruits are broadly grouped into three types: Paramecia , which grant a wide variety of strange superhuman abilities; Zoan , which allows a user to transform into an animal as well as an animal hybrid; and Logia , which grants a user the power to create, control, and transform their body into a natural element.
Paramecia is one of the three Devil Fruit types, being the most common and diverse. Fruits of this type allows the consumer to achieve one of a large variety of abilities that enables them to become "superhuman" or perform a superhuman feat. The defining aspect of Paramecia fruits, in basic terms, is that they grant any power other than the ability to transform into an animal like a Zoan or a natural element like a Logia. Thus, the Paramecia type encompasses a massive range of varying and peculiar abilities with their own strengths and weaknesses. Some Paramecias have abilities similar to other ones, but each one is still unique in their own way. They are the most numerous type of Devil Fruit, with most users in the series comprising of them.

Around 13 years ago, the World Government had managed to capture and secure the fruit after chasing it for over years. However, during transport, it was stolen by Shanks and his crew. The Gomu Gomu no Mi is a violet, spherical shaped fruit, similar to a cantaloupe, with a stem sprouting out of the top, with swirls that go in a curly "S" like-pattern. Its overall appearance greatly resembles a Yubari King. While its final design has the characteristic Devil Fruit swirls all over it, the fruit was initially drawn without them in the first version of Romance Dawn. Due to its unique nature, this Devil Fruit grants the user a baseline body with the properties of rubber, though due to the fruit's true power being dormant, the user's body is limited to restrictions and transformations similar in nature to most Paramecias. The fruit's major strength, as demonstrated by Luffy, is that the user's body permanently adopts the properties of rubber : their body can stretch, bend, bounce, inflate, and twist much like said substance, even when their power is nullified by way of submergence in water or Seastone exposure. Indeed, unlike most other Devil Fruits, the effects of the Gomu Gomu no Mi are always active, making the user's body permanently rubbery. The user becomes almost completely immune to blunt damage, including bodily attacks, blunt weapons, bullets, and even cannonballs, all of which will simply bounce off from their skin.

For instance, Smoker, can transform into Smoke. He can also teleport objects and people within his sphere and create powerful shockwaves that ripple through the air. Its powers enable Big Mom to extract part of a person's soul and use it to animate any object she wishes. As an adult, Robin utilizes the Hana Hana no Mi primarily for combat. He has not yet explained his research or how he did it. While Bonney was not given a lot of time to shine before the Egghead Arc, the reveal and showcase of her abilities has been one of the arcs most enjoyable surprises. I've worked hard to develop my Devil Fruit powers. Sube Sube no Mi. You probably won't get any weaker, and being unable to swim isn't such a big deal. Zoan-type Devil Fruits allow the user to transform into a particular animal species. In addition to the weakness to actual water, there is a substance known as Seastone : a special, near-indestructible substance that emits the same energy as the sea, referred to as the sea in solid form. This is seen when the Gorgon sisters and Luffy in Boa Hancock's bath were still able to move.
Devil Fruits are a source of great power in the world of One Piece. Introduced in the very beginning of the story, Devil Fruits are known to grant their eaters special powers that have a wide range, depending on the type that they ate.
This was seen well during the Jaya Arc , where Robin only managed to capture a South Bird located on the treetops once she had a clear view of it. Its overall appearance greatly resembles a pink dahlia. They say that the Devil Fruit was enchanted by sea devils. However, it also shows an important drawback: the more Bonney grows up and learns about the harsh reality of the world, the less she will be able to imagine a "distorted future", thus making her story even more tragic. While it certainly does have utility and would make the user stronger in a way, it simply does not have anything going for itself when compared to most other Devil Fruits that exist in the world of One Piece. At the same time, these fruits have also been forcefully awakened, and while that does make them powerful, they lose all sense of themselves, which is simply counterproductive in combat. However, one big downside of this fruit is Alvida slips off every surface and needs shoes to encumber herself. Hovering the symbol gives further details. Impel Down houses the most heinous criminals in the history of One Piece , so it only follows suit that the World Government would station one of its strongest fighters there. This Devil Fruit turned Alvida into a slippery woman and made her quite difficult to take on in a fight. Known as the treasure of the sea, Devil Fruits are a major source of power in the One Piece world. In the Funimation dub, Corto refers to them as the Diablo Fruit.
