The Great Club is a great hammer in Dark Souls. In-Game Description. Found in Blighttown , to the left of the entrance to Quelaag's Domain. It is guarded by two Infested Barbarians. The Great Club is a bigger version of the Large Club , having higher base damage, but with more weight and causing no poison build up.

I've heard people argue convincingly for both for a STR build. The consensus seems to be that Great Club does more damage even though it only has a B in scaling--but the large club has a better move-set.

With the Large Club, you can do pretty well in both stances thanks to a much better 1h-R2. Overall, the Large Club does have the better moveset at the cost of marginal loss in damage.
