Costco is currently selling a 33 pound bag of Traeger Gourmet Blend wood pellets and it is the best value I have ever seen for Traeger pellets. There are several companies that manufacture wood pellets but the most famous is probably Traeger. I have a lot of fun cooking on my pellet grill and end up burning through a LOT of pellets. It turns out that while the Traeger pellets are just fine I like the Kirkland brand pellets better. This is a really nice hardwood blend that works well with pork, chicken and beef. I really like the smoke aroma these pellets produce and it has worked great these past few weeks as I have been cooking picanha and tri tips that I also picked up at Costco.

I spend a lot of time playing with pellet grills and was pleasantly surprised when I saw that Costco was selling a 40 pound bag of Kirkland Signature branded wood pellets. I have tried a lot of brands of pellets and have found that some brands are great, others are bad and some are ridiculously overpriced. Of course I was curious to learn if the Kirkland pellets were any good so I bought a bag so I could write this review. For some cost comparisons consider the following products:. One of the tricks that many manufacturers of pellet grills pull is telling you that their brand of grill is specially designed to work best with their brand of wood pellet. Some brands go so far as to imply on the warranty card that you must use their pellets in their grills.

As someone who loves to cook outdoors, I know that nothing beats the taste of food cooked over an open flame. You may have also wondered about the manufacturer of these pellets.

Kirkland pellets and unusual start up issue. It's probably a very small percentage improvement but - why not? Powered down and emptied out the pellets, vacuumed out the firebox and inside of the grill which was relatively clean and free of grease or ash. In Costco we trust.
