Broken Hill Cobalt Project produces cobalt for use in new-age batteries. Cobalt Blue Holdings Limited COB , a cobalt development and technology company focused on advancing cobalt mining, refining and recycling operations in Australia, was founded in COB is developing the Broken Hill Cobalt Project BHCP , 23km west of Broken Hill, as an integrated open-cut mining and refinery operation to produce cobalt sulphate suitable as a battery cathode precursor and elemental sulphur. The operations will have a lifespan of more than 20 years and will employ people in an established mining community with well-developed social and utilities infrastructure. With our Cobalt in Waste Streams Projects we are focussed on a global opportunity to apply our own patented technology to re-process pyrite and other sulphides in mine waste to extract contained metals, such as cobalt.

This is a cooperative venture between several leading Australian mining and processing companies and global battery manufacturers. The collective aim is to create a battery precursor — a building block of the battery here in Australia. This takes our involvement in battery production beyond the mining and provision of raw material — it is expected to make Cobalt Blue and its partners an integral player in the battery manufacturing chain. Cobalt Blue's current partners are among the top tier of the world's battery manufacturers. Having these commercial relationships in place at this stage in the Project demonstrates the Project's potential. In conjunction with our technical progress, these relationships place COB in a solid position to negotiate partnership assistance.
