You will be able to win most seiges without being drawn into battle. This will help you pick targets green equates to more wealth. By taking counties in the de jure of Sweden you are also guaranteeing that you can take over the Kingdom of Sweden after Norway is founded, therefore increasing your chances of creating the Empire of Scandinavia or reforming the Norse religion before your character dies and you have succession crises all over your land. On the subject of raiding, "I've found that raiding is so powerful that I keep it throughout my game. Quickly claim those provinces to your north as they only have either one or two counties each. As you step into Finland the rebel chances rises significantly, not sure if it's intended or bug and you will inevitablely come into contact with the Slavic tribes which have outragously large forces that will become a pain in the arse if you also run into Catholic Crusades My favorite tactic is to relocate to Britain. Also, unlike in CK2, grabbing 3 Catholic holy sites actually isn't that difficult from Normandy: Canterbury's just across the Channel, Cologne requires conquering Lotharingia, but that's just one kingdom over from France, and Santiago is a reasonably distanced Coastal county to swipe especially if it was sitting in Muslim hands, which is normally the state I find it or so years after the start. By taking counties in the de jure of Sweden you are also guaranteeing that you can take over the Kingdom of Sweden after Norway is founded, therefore increasing your chances of creating the Empire of Scandinavia or reforming the Norse religion before your character dies and you have succession crises all over your land. FWIW, the one time I managed Norse reformation in Ironman, I started in as duchy-Sweden, unified kingdom-Sweden, then forged claims to get the holy sites in Denmark and Norway before raiding mostly theocratic counties, but also Venice and North Africa for cash and county-conquesting Ireland and Finland, and it still took a week and a half of play. You've probably only got minimal or low crown authority so elective will most likely be the best way to keep your Norse Dynasty going. But it looks like Zealand in Holland is still an independent Christian. Definitely burn down Venice and Rome if you get the chance. You are using an out of date browser. Meanwhile because I'm stuck in tribal conquest after a while becomes incredibly untenable because my vassal limit is tiny and I don't control my vassal's armies who like to fuck off and do whatever while meanwhile the guy I'm fighting can combine his armies into one giant pile.
