If it went over their heads during the first mention, there are plenty of other nods to the fairytale character of Cinderella. Cinder wears glass shoes in her first fight, just like the glass slippers worn by Cinderella in most well-known versions of her story. There are also frequent mentions of her needing to be back by midnight. Her weapon is also named Midnight. Cinder also has an affinity for fire and Dust. In the classic tales of Cinderella, she got her nickname because of the cinders that would gather on her clothing when she laid in front of the fireplace to keep warm.
