When we eventually arrived very out in the sticks! Although the sign on the gate said 'full' we were still spoilt for choice as to where to pitch our very large tent. The ground was dry and flat. We were a party of 2 adults and 3 children aged There was a lovely little park and a great woodland for them to explore, all in eye sight of our tent. The toilets were always clean and the free showers big and no wait. The washing up facilities were close enough and always available even though this was easter weekend.
A superb, secluded park surrounded by mature trees, hedging and Lakeland-stone walls in a peaceful valley setting. The combination of indigenous trees and summer wildflowers creates stunning displays to complement the beauty of the surrounding hills. The site offers static caravans, two shepherd's huts and wooden pods for hire, alongside spacious grassy areas for tents and a handful of excellent hardstanding motorhome pitches. Families and dogs are welcome here and are all well-catered for. Cumbria's rugged yet beautiful landscape is best known for the Lake District National Park that sits within its boundaries. This beautiful countryside once inspired William Wordsworth and his home, Dove Cottage, in Grasmere is a popular museum. Much of Cumbria is often overlooked in favour of the Lake Distirct. In the south, the Lune Valley remains as lovely as it was when Turner painted it.
