TAIPEI - Breaking her silence after five decades, the former wife of publishing magnate Ping Shin-tao is finally revealing how romance novelist Chiung Yao snatched her husband from her. In a book to be published at the end of the month, painter Lin Wan-zhen, 88, details how her marriage ended after Chiung, 80, chiung yao, became chiung yao bestselling author and moved into a house opposite the Ping family's to facilitate her writing, says China Times.

Her novels have been adapted into more than films and TV dramas. Chen Che and her twin brother were born in during the Second Sino-Japanese War in Chengdu , Sichuan , to parents who had fled Beijing which had fallen to Japanese troops in In , following the fall of Hengyang, they survived an arduous journey to the wartime capital of Chongqing , during which they narrowly escaping death. After failing the university entrance examination three times, she married writer Ma Senqing and became a housewife. When she was 18, Chiung Yao fell in love with her high school Chinese teacher. This experience became the basis of her debut novel Outside the Window , which became one of her most popular works and launched her career as a writer. Chiung Yao's novels were first serialized in the Crown Magazine owned by Ping Hsin-tao and then published as monographs by Crown Publishing, also owned by Ping, who later became her second husband. The couple adapted many of her novels into television series and films, often serving as producers or screenwriters themselves. Her romance novels were very well received in Taiwan, and by the s she was also one of the best-selling authors on mainland China. She has since been enormously popular throughout the Chinese-speaking world.

Fire and Rain is a Taiwanese novel by romance novelist Chiung Yao. One of her best-known works, it has been adapted multiple times into film and TV dramas. The story follows a young girl Lu Yi-ping whose father Lu Chen-hua had for years been a warlord in Northeast China , where he forcibly married many girls, before fleeing the Chinese Communist Revolution for Taiwan presumably after joining the National Revolutionary Army to fight the communists as many minor warlords did during the Chinese Civil War. In Taipei , Lu Yi-ping and her mother live in utter poverty, and she swears revenge on her father's household, who live in luxury. After realizing her half-sister Lu Ru-ping fancies reporter Ho Shu-huan, she actively seeks his love as part of her scheme. She and Ho Shu-huan fall in love, but Ho is furious when he discovers she has used him. In his fury, he promises Ru-ping he would marry her instead. Yi-ping is heartbroken and becomes ill. Ho Shu-huan is very concerned and tells Yi-ping that he didn't mean to leave her and that he doesn't actually love Ru-ping. Yi-ping exposes the affair of Ru-ping's mother Hsueh-chin, and Ru-ping, who has been on an emotional roller-coaster all this time, commits suicide.
