Principal photography commenced in September This was Rajput's last theatrical release before his demise on 14 June Anirudh "Anni" Pathak is a divorced middle-aged man living with his teenage son Raghav Pathak, an aspiring engineer , who is awaiting the results of his entrance examination in the hope of enrolling in the Indian Institute of Technology. On the eve of the results, Anni gifts Raghav a bottle of champagne , promising him that they will celebrate his success together, unaware that Raghav is under intense pressure. The bottle of champagne only fuels Raghav's worries as to what will happen if he does not make it.

A tragic incident forces Anirudh, a middle-aged man, to take a trip down memory lane and reminisce his college days along with his friends, who were labelled as losers. The setup was within 's till present where Anni, a divorcee used his past experience in overcoming challenges of being a loser in college where he met His Wife, Maya and his Losers friends, Saxa, Mummy, Acid, Derek and Bevda. His shares past experience to his son, Raghav who struggles with being failed at getting an offer to college despite being an excellent student. Anni and Maya's son attempts suicide after failing to do well in exams and is in critical condition. While in hospital Anni tells him stories about his college friends and he starts to respond to treatment. Anni then calls his friends Sexa,Derek,Mummy,Acid and Bevda to be by his side and make his son understand how they turned winners from losers. Anni also drenches Raggie Prateik Babbar , his rival from the H3 hostel.

The story is simple — a bunch of engineering students and their journey from being losers to choosers. Sushant Singh Rajput Annirudh and Shraddha Kapoor Maya play a divorced couple, and they have a reunion of sorts with their college buddies, though in rather unwanted circumstances. Together, they recall and relive their old college memories, the good and bad days spent almost 20 years ago. The screenplay takes a trip down memory lane through college hostels, sports grounds and canteen conversations; switch to present day and you see the same camaraderie in their friendship that was forged in college.
