Chatora, which opened at the end of Decemberis blessed with a capable and experienced kitchen team.
Too sweet tasting curries, far away from india cuisine. Including nan breads were under cooked. Service is top class and amazing staff, but food is not great at all. Chatora in Richmond offers superb food, but watch out, it can be hot hot hot, writes Pippa Duncan. Walking into Chatora made me feel old. There have been various restaurants in this spot on Kew Road for years and it must be more than 30 years ago when it was the Italian, Prego. Does anyone remember Prego? We were there all the time. It might be the same for Chatora as we went twice within a couple of weeks. What makes it stand out is the level of service. You always notice bad service, not always the good but, here was a bustle of busy staff taking orders, bringing trays of food in twos and threes, filling your water glass before you realise its half empty. There are four levels to the restaurant. The first night we sat outside on the last balmy evening of September and the second time, in October, on the top level which was great, but very noisy as it is open to all the other levels, so if you have a hearing problem, I suggest a lower floor. While we waited for our starters we shared a couple of bowls of mixed popadoms and chutneys. These are sensational and really worth trying, although very filling. Both times we went, we shared our starters and main courses and both times three dishes between four of us was ample. It is delicious and almost a meal in itself. All were full of flavour and while the chicken was highlighted as fiery, they were all hot hot hot!

This upmarket Indian restaurant opened in Richmond in December There are four separate dining areas on different tiers of the building. The head chef is Sunil de Souza, who was sous chef at Chor Bizarre for seven years before working at Trishna for five years, followed by a stint at Kutir. The menu is more ambitious than most local places, with dishes such as venison biryani and squash and edamame samosa appearing. Popadoms began the meal with a trio of accompaniments. Mango and pineapple chutney, mint chutney and yoghurt with curry leaves were all very good, and a change from the norm. Aloo papdi chaat involved tamarind and mint chutneys and honey and yoghurt mousse as well as the usual potatoes and chickpeas.
Anthem laureates are recognized for their contribution in the arts, popular culture and community work. Yes we can! What about immigrants from other African countries? The Where the Heart Is novelist takes exception to criticism from some decolonial aficionados who conclude that he has taken the side of the whites. It is a curious case of turning the tables on oneself for a novelist equally targeted for his pro-black crusades on the diaspora turf. Or, perhaps, a simple taste for complexity?

Overrated and over priced The chutneys with the popadums were simple and not very tasty The food arrived cold The sauces with the main courses were over spiced with a distinct taste of tomato soup and burnt garlic.
It is delicious and almost a meal in itself. Venison biryani came sealed in a pastry case that was then cut open at the table. Find more reviews on great local restaurants here. The rice was aromatic and carefully cooked but the venison was rather overcooked. Your lists. London 0. Le Vacherin.
