The After film series consists of American romantic dramas based on the Anna Todd authored After novels. The plot centers around the positive and negative experiences of a romantic relationship between a young couple named Tessa and Hardin. Over the events of their courtship, the pair overcome their various differences, all while strengthening the plans of building a future together. Though the films have been met with negative reviews from critics, they have attained a fanbase and fared well financially. Their monetary successes have led the associated production studios to green-light production on multiple installments at the same time. The series will continue with a sequel in post production, [3] as well as another sequel and prequel being concurrently in development. Tessa prides herself as an accomplished dedicated student and responsible daughter, and has always been a loyal girlfriend to her high school boyfriend. When she ventures away to college however, this is all called into question when she meets a brooding and mysterious guy named Hardin. Through an eventful series of romantic encounters, Tessa questions what she believed, her character, and what she wants in her future. Following a passionate start to their relationship, Tessa and Hardin have experienced tumultuous differences, and an on-off series of courtships. Despite this the pair repeatedly return to each other, believing that their love has helped them to find a pathway to building a lasting relationship. Though Hardin can be mean, Tessa is drawn to him. Hardin struggles to work through his dark familial past, and in managing his anger issues. As his life experiences come to light, Tessa questions their future together.

It is the first installment in the After film series. The film stars Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Josephine Langford and follows a young woman who begins to romance a mysterious student during her first months of college. A sequel, After We Collided , was released in Tessa Young begins her first year of college by moving into her dorm room with the help of her mother, Carol, and her boyfriend, Noah. During this process she meets her new roommate Steph and Steph's girlfriend Tristan. The day after, Tessa shares a brief encounter with Steph's friend, Hardin Scott. The following day Steph persuades Tessa to attend a party where she meets Steph's other friends: Zed, Molly, and Jace, and meets Hardin for the second time.

If there's a defining moment in the life of Tessa Young Josephine Langford , it's either meeting, initially being annoyed by, falling in love with, being heart-broken by, or reuniting with Hardin Scott Hero Fiennes Tiffin. He's a guy with a bad-boy attitude and image, who's really just a wounded softy beneath his declarations that love doesn't exist, his occasional outbursts of violence, and a body that's covered in some—let's say—eclectic tattoos. There's a row of what appear to be guinea pigs wearing sunglasses on his forearm. Yes, the romance between these two characters is such that it's all too easy to be distracted by a tattoo. The movie is adapted from the first book in Anna Todd's series of novels, which might explain why nothing here seems to be on the life-defining level promised by the opening voice-over. Like the most recently popular series of such movie adaptations, there isn't so much an isolated story as there are about three major events, culminating in a final promise that future installments will provide us with something more. Unlike a couple of the more popular examples of such wheel-spinning romances, there are neither supernatural creatures nor any scenes of kinky sex.
