Capcom has launched a beautiful 40th-anniversary website which celebrates the company's history, as well as shares artwork and design docs, and acts as a hub for some of the developer's biggest titles. Capcom Town is bursting with colour, characters, and chiptune music, which will get anyone who's ever played, seen, or heard of any of Capcom's titles just a little bit giddy. The town is segmented into areas for certain franchises — Street Fighter has a dojo in the top right corner, for instance, while Monster Hunter occupies the space in front of the giant arcade machine. If you're an eagle-eyed fan, then you'll spot some other small references to Capcom characters throughout. We won't give any of them away, but the ones in the sky give some really deep retro cuts. You can pop into the C. D Museum to look at artwork from many of Capcom's best titles — there is some never-before-seen concept art for some games, high-resolution artwork of characters we've never had access to, and design docs for the original Mega Man , Ace Attorney , and Street Fighter II. An archivist's dream, basically.

Outside of Nintendo, Capcom has probably the most iconic and recognizable stable of video game series and characters though we don't get to see them together all that often anymore. The company recently released Capcom Town as a free digital theme park where visitors can look back through their 40 years of history including classic playable titles as well as a cool museum that features official and concept artwork as well as design documents for your favorite titles. There's a ton of cute nods and references packed into the map pulling from all over Capcom's legacy including a surprising amount of representation for Darkstalkers and Cyberbots on the left side. They don't do much at the moment, but it is nice to see so many characters referenced that have largely been put on a shelf for decades in some cases. Capcom Town's main meat begins when you enter the museum and find dedicated sections going back through the history of the company's biggest games of the past, of course including Street Fighter 2. Inside each exhibit you can find a wealth of official artwork for the games as well as concept art and design documents that is interesting to flip through and see what's there because some of that stuff cuts pretty deep like arcade instruction cards.
