As such, it's evident that Canon has stooped to some feature gouging, both to make up the price difference and to refrain from eating into the higher-end sales. We're left with a rather plain DSLR, stripped of its pomp and frills. Hopefully, performance and image quality aren't as skimpy as this model's chintzy plastic chassis. Forward then, to the lab!
Canon rebel t3 review
Marking a new entry point to the Rebel line, the Canon T3 offers good image quality, a friendly design, and excellent battery life. Although its burst-shooting capabilities don't match the best-in-class, and has a few omissions such as dust removal and spot metering, these are fairly easy to overlook given the entry-level pricetag. In all, a fairly easy recommendation for the first-time SLR buyer. Well-considered ergonomics and control layout; Solid build; Good image quality; Great battery life; High-def movie capture. Frame rate and burst depth not the best, especially for raw; Weak flash for an SLR; No sensor cleaning function; No spot metering. A major revamp to their previous Rebel XS entry-level SLR, the new Canon T3 is significantly more advanced than its predecessor, and looks to offer a great choice for both novices and enthusiast users on a budget. It's been about 18 months since the Rebel XS shipped in August of , and although the Rebel T3 now has an even lower price, you get a lot more for your money. Perhaps most significantly, the Rebel T3 has an increased sensor resolution of twelve megapixels, and also switches to a current-generation DIGIC 4 processor. Together, these allow a much wider ISO sensitivity range of to 6, equivalents. There's also a slightly larger 2. Not all the changes are entirely positive, though. The Rebel T3's pentamirror viewfinder has a narrower dioptric adjustment range of Henceforth, the new Rebel lineup will start with the Canon T3, with step-up models being the Rebel T2i and T3i, both of which offer 18 megapixel resolution. As you might expect given the amount of time that's passed, this is quite an upgrade. Virtually every aspect of the camera has been revamped and improved, while still retaining the compact styling that's made the Rebel models favorites with those looking for compact ease of use.
The aberrations are very subtle to be sure, canon rebel t3 review, but they're something to be aware of if you plan to make very large prints of similar subject matter from JPEGs. Nikon D In fact, the photo quality is quite good for the price, as we've come to expect from Canon.
The Canon EOS Rebel T3 produces images with near accurate saturation, particularly in the bright yellows, greens and cyans. Strong reds, oranges, dark brown, some greens and dark blues are pushed a little though. Overall saturation of Most consumer digital cameras produce color that's more highly saturated more intense than found in the original subjects. This is simply because most people like their color a bit brighter than life.

Handling is really where the T3 suffers. It's a very lightweight camera, which is wonderful, but the shooting experience is hampered by some design choices that seem predicated by cost more than ergonomics.

This review suffered an early setback - I lost the battery charger. Never before have I lost a charger or power supply - for anything. And I have no idea where the charger went. After searching and thinking for a few days, I opted to replace it with a new one. Have you ever tried to replace a battery charger for a brand new camera battery model just after a disaster has occurred in Japan?
Best brand for washer and dryer
Canon T3 Review Tweet Share. Most digital cameras will fail miserably when faced with a moving subject in dim lighting. As you might expect given the amount of time that's passed, this is quite an upgrade. Suggestion for improvement? See all of TJ Donegan's reviews. Average performance, a nothing-but-the-basics feature set and claustrophobic viewfinder leave the camera an uninspiring shooter. The only lighting condition that the T3 had any real trouble with was the same that we see with all DSLR cameras: tungsten lighting. At its lowest contrast setting, the Canon T3 did an excellent job of preserving highlight detail, maintaining fairly natural-looking skin tones, while holding nice detail in the shadows. Unfortunately, while I found the Rebel T3's live view mode to be pretty reliable in terms of achieving a focus lock, except for extremely low-contrast subjects or in low ambient light, the contrast detection autofocus system felt slow enough that I generally ended up disabling it altogether in favor of phase detection and some extra mirror flipping. Typical JPEG shot-to-shot time rounds up to 0. Thus, I depend solely on the commissions received from you using the links on this site to make any purchase. Nikon D This is dramatically better than the earlier Rebel XS, which required you to dive several levels deep in the Record Menu to make adjustments. I couldn't get much better results from processing the raw versions--I could get different results, but only by trading off dynamic range for color and grain. The higher quality numbers are below average for an APS-C sensor these days, though not bad for an entry-level model. Even at its highest ISO sensitivity, it can yield quite usable prints at up to 11" x 14", and at ISO or below you can expect to manage prints up to 20" x 30", or smaller sizes with generous room for cropping. If you're shooting in JPEG mode, things aren't all that bad, with three frames per second for around 17 frames, but as soon as you switch to Raw shooting, the speed drops significantly to two frames per second, and the buffer fills after just the third frame. The buttons are nicely formed and have an excellent design flow, as well as clear, audible clicks. This does mean, though, that the focus target itself may appear soft or slightly out of focus for bodies that front- or back-focused with the reference lens. This comparison was previously featured on this page, but later moved to its own page to avoid especially for mobile users the large file download required. Despite my larger than average hands--I'm a little over six feet tall--the T3's body was relatively comfortable whether shooting with a single- or double-handed grip.
