Styling is anything but conservative, and the upscale F3-S version I tested, offers premium fenders with LED lights plus other goodies. Additionally, three accessory packages are available.

Can-Am recently invited a group of journalists to sample its latest Spyder roadster on a two-day ride through rolling countryside ablaze in fall colors, in the Eastern Township outside of Montreal in Quebec, Canada. Visits to the Bombardier Recreational Products design center and factory filled out the agenda. A new Y-frame chassis features two frame members added to each side to increase torsional rigidity, a trellis-style rear swingarm, standard Fox Podium aluminum-body front shocks, Sachs rear monoshock a remote-reservoir Fox shock is optional , Brembo front brakes, electronic cruise control and more. The styling is quite aggressive; think muscle-cruiser here. Three more accessory packages are offered for either model.

This was the up-spec F3-S with the SE6 semi-automatic transmission. Nothing but horsepower, baby! The new algorithms provide for ample straight-line wheelspin, but once you introduce lateral cornering forces into the equation, SCS and TCS kick into action before antics get out of hand. For now, these new algorithms are specific to the F3 and are the main reason why the F3 is easily my favorite Spyder. A lot more. Yep, I said cruiser crowd. The F3 is meant to fill a void in the Spyder line-up, appealing to cruiser riders by way of its relaxed, feet-forward seating position. This should be exciting to many prospective Spyder owners, but it gets better. The new seating position is customizable to body size and personal preference. When a person enters a Spyder dealership, they will be able to sit on an F3 Spyder and experience the different ergonomics prior to purchasing. According to Can-Am, the procedure to swap the handlebar and adjust the footpegs is a minute process. Ironically, the relaxed, feet-forward seating position, while comfortable, also helps when pushing the F3 through corners. Unlike the other Spyders, where the standard footpeg positioning requires more upper body strength to manipulate the Spyder through a series of corners, the leverage provided by the feet forward positioning allows an F3 rider to brace himself against cornering G forces with leg muscles. This allows for better handlebar input and vehicle control. Both trim levels are available with manual or SE6 semi-automatic transmissions.

Most farmers buy their quads from the same dealer for years too, because they trust him, easily as important as how good his product might be. Unless my memory has slumped with the rest of my personal topography, there was a time when most farm quads weighed well below an arbitrary kg threshold, but manufacturers have stormed that barricade too. Our test vehicle is prepped and supplied by Gatton Powersports. We ride the L all day on a hilly cattle property not far from Brisbane, where we evaluate all ATVs for New Farm Machinery , and find nothing diabolical to complain about. It could be described as a stripped-down Outlander XT, with front and rear racks, steel wheels and independent front and rear suspension, but no bumpers, hand guards, full-length bash-plate or power-steering. They take stuff off.

Upon fanning the clutch and goosing the throttle to purposely get the rear end hacked out in a turn, I could feel the traction control modulate power and the stability control snub down the front brakes to get things realigned, automatically and seamlessly. This colour has a better chance of hiding dings and scars than the current range of body colours and looks cool. Just asking to be damaged when parking. New Rider's Hub Get Started. Electronic cruise control, which comes on the S models, maintains speed spot on, and allows the rider to rest that right wrist on long highway stretches. My tail bone goes from S-2 sacral up to L-2 lumbar two. The styling of the Can-Am Spyder has definitely evolved since it was first introduced. Power comes up quickly yet controllably, with a strong rush in the upper midrange. There is a slight hesitation between cracking the ride-by-wire throttle and receiving engine response. Engine I think this model is MORE like snowmobile than any other spyder models - yes, that's right. Jolts from rough pavement are passed on to the rider, but the suspension is well controlled and prevents the machine from leaning noticeably in corners.
