So I got a tradie in to install a new shower screen and re-caulk, but it looks pretty messy and like there are gaps. Should I get him back to try to fix it, or try DIY? Messy corner and maybe gap Replace grout or swipe on some caulk? And in addition to the messiness, should the caulking cover the lower edge of the tile? It kind of looks like there might be a gap.

Hi, I recently had my shower re-tiled. The tiler advised that he was going to use paintable silicone around the edges, however when I try to paint it it ends up like below. Could you please advise how to obtain a better finish? Thanks for your help. Hello sue Thanks for sharing your question about painting your silicone edging. I suggest using a clean rag and some methylated spirits to wipe off the paint that you used on top of the silicone surface. I recommend a minimum of two coats before you paint it with your topcoat. I'm just wondering what silicone to use, given that I had to use special mirror liquid nails to secure it onto the walls. Will Sellys wet area silicone be ok?
See most helpful response. Hi JustinMcAbbe. There was a similar product at the store, but I've not seen it in a while. I'm passing by the store tomorrow and will double check with our plumbing specialist. On the other hand, utilizing a silicone filler is considerably more reliable than utilizing a tape sealer. The silicone filler fits tightly between the gap separating the bathtub and wall. Since you press the silicone into the gap, it expels any air pockets that may occur during the application of the silicone. Furthermore, silicone sealers have a greater capacity for hot water and will not peel off even after prolonged exposure.
