Some Virgin Media email users have been unable to access their inboxes for over two weeks, with no date for when the issue will be fixed. Customers first started reporting problems on Monday, 19 June. Virgin Media said all users can now send and receive emails again but some still cannot access messages from before the disruption. Phil Westlake, who used to design IT systems for several large UK companies, has lost access to his historic emails and said that in his experience disaster recovery plans in large organisations would stipulate that the situation should be resolved in a few hours. Virgin Media apologised "unreservedly" for the inconvenience caused. It has previously said that all emails were "safe and secure".

One of our directors had an old PC at home with Outlook connected to a blueyonder. Anyway, this account is many years old and has thousands of messages, the majority of which are filed into subfolders. I've just installed a new PC for him and connected the email account and all I get is the inbox plus other 'standard' folders. There are no subfolders at all. There are 2 other accounts linked to the Outlook profile, both of which are Virgin Media accounts and they show all of their subfolders without issue but the Blueyonder account is an inbox only. I've set it up on a different PC with the same result, the subfolders are simply not there on the Blueyonder account but are there in the Virgin Media accounts. All accounts were setup in Office the same way. It looks as if the subfolders were created locally but were not replicated back to the server, is that likely? There doesn't seem to be a webmail option for Blueyonder although I suspect that would show exactly the same thing. Fortunately, I still have the old PC so can create a PST of the mailbox including the subfolders but with the age of the account and volume of emails that is not going to be a quick job and I'd rather avoid it if I can. If I recall right and I may not , blueyounder had a low even for the time limit on the amount of mail space they had. POP3 dequeues from the server and hosts locally and if they have thousands of mails it's quite likely that this was setup to hold emails and prevent the on host mailbox filling up and rejected further mail.
Follow these steps to create shareable links from email conversations in your Blueyonder. Guess I'll be spending some time time copying emails then! Good luck.

I have an old blueyonder email account that it would be useful to recover some important emails from. Can someone contact me to help with this? The address is still active as I still receive emails from another alias that forwards to my gmail account. Can you log into the account via webmail? If not is there any error message? Is the account connected to an active broadband account? If not then the address may have been deleted.
