Our boat, the Bluefin 5. We had 25hp more than that and we could easily have restrained our throttle hands, but we were human. The impression at full throttle was that we were planing on just a couple of centimetres each side of the keel, and sanity prevented us putting on any quantity of wheel at that speed. Seconds later we reduced to smarter speeds. We had the sort of miserable wet test day that showed clears and bow cockpit covers have their reasons, and only considerations of photography persuaded us to remove the cover. That still left us with the closed opening windscreen and door, which did a fine job of keeping us dry. This is a boat that does everything competently without being ostentatious about it. The bow cockpit, for instance, could seat four adults, and that is better than typical; usefully big in fact. That leaves a pair of pedestals at the dash and a two to three seater aft for other people to choose from. We did not have the bodies to actually test it, but I judged that the boat had enough buoyancy forward to handle the weight of four people. The aft lounge is cleverly done.

Just wondering if anyone here either owns one or has any experience with a Bluefin Barracuda of any size by chance? I am looking at possibly buying one as they are great value compared to a Renegade or Outlaw and have a lot of inclusions with the package also. They seem like they are more common in Queensland but if that's where I have to go to get one at a good price then so be it. I cannot find a great deal in any searches I have done on Google or anything except for a few reviews saying the ride isn't that great due to their hull design but they were models so not sure if they've made improvements since then. I'm really just looking for the best value as I have a budget and they have a boat that is the layout I'm after and it comes with a lot more inclusions.
Two years ago we tested the Bluefin L; now we test the newer version and what is also another option added to that model range, the Lock-up Weekender. Back then, the conditions were perfect for boating, with a flat calm Auckland harbour; now, with almost the exact same weather, we look at the new model version. Freddy Foote reports. Bluefin is a brand of Sportcraft Boats Ltd. The Bluefin brand has enjoyed much success in the last decade, slowly building a strong presence in the market, gaining market share where other brands have fallen or moved into other markets. A good reputation amongst Bluefin customers has seen the company distribute boats into the South Island — the traditional home of the alloy hardtop — as well as a growing number of boats into Auckland and the Northland region. Basically, Sportcraft has marketed Bluefin to provide exceptional value for money to new boat buyers. The most notable of these is the separate shower and toilet compartment in the forward port corner of the cockpit, complete with califont. I had actually walked through the boat at the recent Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show, and was impressed with the level of appointment and more so with the display window price.

Even though it is ideal for the family, it can easily cater for a group of more dedicated or serious anglers. Sit, though, and you are lowered until your vision is pretty well through mid windscreen. Re: Bluefin Boats troy i here sum say they are a wet boat. Latest Articles. Bluefin, quintrex and Stacer are all pressed boats. Storage is not limited to that seat box; the volume under the bow seats adds up to a mass of extra space. Thanks for the reply Spothound. Thanks Troy. Who's online There are currently 11 users and guests online. Blue Fin have obviously given priority to functionality in the layout of their Weekender Series of craft.
It is no surprise to anyone that boats currently selling in any numbers are at the smaller — and of course cheaper — end of the scale. Finance is not easy to get, and something within cash range has a better chance of being bought.
Engines for the compact Blue Fin 4. Side pockets are standard and of a reasonable size. Blue Fin have been making alloy craft long enough to understand the dynamics of bow sections coming into contact with water at speed. I've looked at a couple of the Bluefin dinghys in their yard, solid boats. I cannot find a great deal in any searches I have done on Google or anything except for a few reviews saying the ride isn't that great due to their hull design but they were models so not sure if they've made improvements since then. That 'Bullnose' punches into chop and throws the spray forward and up, so you wear it all. There is a fair amount of room aft of the forward seating for fishing pursuits, with the option of leaving the rear lounge in place or folding it down out of the way. Our boat, the Bluefin 5.
