This park features 89 sites at their location, including 6 full serviced sites, 41 powered sites, 6 powered group sites, and 2 non-powered group sites. In addition, they have 4 tenting sites, 30 non-powered sites, and 1 overflow site for your convenience. Campers can take advantage of the boat launch to enjoy various water activities like trout fishing, canoeing and kayaking!

Far from the touristy mountain spots and cramped campgrounds you typically find near urban areas; Black Nugget Campground is a hidden gem that is perfect for families. Located just over an hour outside Edmonton this campsite has everything you need for a quiet weekend getaway. Be sure to check out all the Alberta Mamas campground reviews! Reservations can be made online through CampReservations. The drive is easy and the kids will have fun looking out the window at passing farms. If you are lucky you will see cows, horses, tractors, beautiful canola fields depending on the season , grain elevators and more. We suggest stopping in Tofield for a milkshake from Burger Baron on your way out if you are going on Highway Their Vanilla Coke milkshakes are worth the stop! The sites are HUGE and can easily fit more than one trailer or book one of their group sites if you are going with friends or family. Be sure to check out the campground map. The playground is large and works with both younger and older kids. The campground was built after the coal mine in the same location closed down.

Very generous camping sites for the price, lots of green space between them, including mature trees. Very clean, no debris from previous campers in and around the site or in the fire pit. We stayed at Tip for Other Campers: Close to larger small towns like Tofield and Camrose but not much there during the off season. If you're a golfer Coal Creek Golf course is close by and looks a bit challenging. Easy to locate the campground. The water filled coal mine lakes are a bird sancturary and as I understand it can be fished. No motor boats permitted so very quite and less disturbing Question: How late are open for camping? We loved our site overlooking the lake having morning coffee. On Sunday, you have a family emergency and you know that you will not be able to go camping on the weekend. The price paid for this campsite is for one unit only. Great place for seniors. Top Destination. We have been visiting this campground for a few years now and absolutely love it! We will return. We also like the dump station on the way out, the convenient drive thru set up is great. Bring a kayak. Very friendly staff, extremely helpful and maintain an excellent campground. One request.
