Rango references everything from Clint Eastwood's "Man with No Name" pictures to Depp's own gonzo Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, but what makes this a must-see are the surreal visual gags and deadpan tone — it's like a cartoon version of a Coen brothers comedy. White's beloved children's novel about Wilbur the pig and his friend Charlotte the spider was turned into a musical with earwormy songs by the Sherman Brothers Mary Poppins, Jungle Book : one never really forgets Templeton the rat dancing through a fairground gorging himself on trash and singing "the fair is a veritable smorgasborg-orgasborg-orgasborg! Most associate Japan's hugely influential animation studio Studio Ghibli with the work of legendary co-founder Hayao Miyazaki. But his partner Isao Takahata is also a formidable filmmaker, never more so than in this devastating World War II drama, in which a teenage brother and his kid sister must learn to survive after their town has been eradicated by American bombers.

Marrying the Mouse House's signature sweeping animation to a series of beloved classical music suites the 'playlist', as it were, includes bangers from Bach to Beethoven results in something largely spectacular. The best-remembered sequence is the escalating broom nightmare of 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice' a rare appearance from Mickey Mouse himself in a mainline Disney movie , but there are astonishing apocalyptic visions to be found in the Big Bang-centric 'Rite Of Spring' aka, the dinosaur one , and the sturm-and-dranging 'Night On Bald Mountain', featuring the spectral devil Chernabog. The presentation is playful too, with sequences showing the talents of conductor Leopold Stokowski in silhouette and a bit dedicated to the 'soundtrack' itself.

If it can be thought of, it can be drawn and brought to life on screen. Animation has provided some of the most breathtaking worlds and visuals in all of cinema. Mixing beautiful artwork with incredible storytelling has broadened animation's audience, making it a genre for all ages to enjoy.
It's a shame when animated movies are looked down upon. Some people believe they're meant for kids only, while others assume they aren't to be taken seriously. Some of the most emotional and well-written stories in history are animated, and they deserve to be treated with respect. While scores aren't a perfect measurement, it is always interesting to see how the hundreds of thousands of IMDb users feel about a movie, and this list has been updated to showcase a total of 15 animated films that have not only been a critical success but also left their mark on storytelling as a whole.
