The television adaptation gave him the name Benjamin " Dex " Poindexter that was previously used by the Ultimate Marvel incarnation of Bullseye, and would later be integrated into the mainstream comics. The character's first appearance is in Daredevil March Bullseye's real name and origins are unknown. He has used the name "Benjamin Poindexter" on several occasions, first mentioned on Daredevil where he goes by the name "Mr. Poindexter" which he later claimed that it is "just one of the many names he used" Daredevil , The miniseries Bullseye: Greatest Hits developed the character's backstory , but also revealed that some or all of it has been fabricated, probably by Bullseye himself. In this series, Bullseye's name was Leonard and had a brother named Nate whose real name was later revealed as Lester by Leonard.

A mercenary of mystery, nothing was really known about the man called Bullseye. Once, he was captured and interrogated in a highly secure U. However, much of this information is suspect, as Bullseye then escaped, taunting his interrogators that much of what he said was false -- especially the fact that it was not his brother who set fire to the house, it was himself. Bullseye proceeded to set fire to the prison, where his father was also held, and he left his father to die once more. After only three games, according to Bullseye himself, he grew bored and annoyed whilst pitching a no-hitter and for the last pitch of the game he threw the ball at the batter, killing him. He soon after he became a freelance assassin - a perfect career for someone who got so much pleasure from the killing of his enemies. He created his signature modus operandi of using thrown weapons during one of his first outings as a soldier - a Viet Cong fighter got the drop on him and Bullseye's weapon failed to shoot.

At some point early on in his life, Benjamin "Dex" Poindexter's parents died. He was transferred to an orphanage where he lived until he turned 18 and was no longer a legal minor. During his childhood in the orphanage, Dex found solace in the sport of baseball. He adored his coach and developed the ability to throw the ball among other objects with uncanny accuracy. He would occasionally spend hours out in the field by the orphanage bouncing a baseball against the brick wall in the same exact spot over and over again, to the point that a significant chink had started to develop in the wall. During one baseball game in his youth, however, Dex, after throwing perfect strikes for the better half of the game, was benched by his beloved coach in order to give the other team a chance to get some points and in order to give some other kids a chance to play the game. Dex protested this, insisting that he could do his parents proud if he could just pitch a perfect game. Despite this, his coach insisted upon removing him and Dex reluctantly sat out.

Crowbar Combatant : During the FBI's arrest of multiple crime lords, he picks up and throws a crowbar at one of the criminals resisting arrest, knocking him out.
