Police believe a man killed in a stabbing in Sydney's inner west on Sunday afternoon was associated with organised crime. Emergency services were called to the scene on Donnelly Street in Balmain just before 4pm and arrived to find the year-old man with facial injuries and multiple stab wounds to his torso. It is alleged he was stabbed during an altercation involving two other men who fled the scene in a vehicle. Shortly after the stabbing, police found that vehicle on fire in nearby Five Dock and discovered a firearm inside. The victim was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where he underwent surgery but died from his injuries. Detective Chief Inspector Grant Watson from the Leichhardt Command said they are investigating connections to organised crime. Premier Chris Minns said in a press conference on Sunday there was "no excuse" for criminal behaviour on Sydney's streets.
