My guess is that it's due to the short period that the B6 spanned and the fact that I think at that time Audi still only manufactured one RS model at a time, which then would have been the C5 RS6. The RS ethos back in the day was 1 model at a time, limited production and at the end of the model life. As above, plus they usually wait until nearer the end of a chassis' shelf life to release the RS. If they released it too soon the S4 would suffer sales losses. Very clever marketing really, the release one to whet the appetite, then release the other once the S has started to run its course. PS, this is not fact, just my logic.
