The School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts offers a solid base of scientific and mathematical knowledge, proficiency in scientific inquiry and access to careers that value and apply these skills to life situations. Students can tailor their degree with their career goals and personal interests in mind. In the biology program, learning in an integrative environment emphasizes the connectedness of the life sciences. Students also gain a better understanding of larger scientific concepts and can view these concepts from multiple perspectives through experiential learning. Undergraduate research is also an integral component to the New College experience. Research encourages students to apply what they learn in the classroom and gain experience to boost their competitive edge in the workplace.

ASU's School of Mathematics and Statistical Sciences offers quality instruction that leads to bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees in applied mathematics, theoretical mathematics, mathematics education and statistics, and is at the top n the nation for doctorates awarded to graduates from underrepresented groups. Our faculty studies intersect with researchers in many other disciplines to forge collaborations in the life sciences, medicine and health, geoscience, atmospheric science, computer science and engineering. With programs and the dedicated faculty who run them, our school is one of the most exciting places in the country to study the mathematical and statistical sciences. We also offer a wide array of supplemental instructional services through the Math Community Center , resources and degrees for teachers, and tutoring, mentoring and after-school programs for children. For high school mathematics teachers who want to teach high school dual-credit courses or advance to teach at the two-year or community college level, the Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction - Professional Education degree. The Mathematics concentration for this program requires students to take 18 hours of Mathematics Graduate Courses. Mathematics is a fascinating field of study that touches many aspects of our lives. Major Map. Major Map on-campus archive. The BS degree program in mathematics offers a deep grounding in both theoretical and applied mathematical concepts. Classes cover a broad spectrum of advanced mathematical topics, including differential equations, modeling, numerical analysis, number theory, cryptography and real analysis. This degree focuses on the highest levels of math offered in undergraduate courses and is recommended for those who are considering a graduate degree in mathematics. This degree pairs well with several other areas of study in a variety of fields, including computer science, physics, astrophysics and engineering, as well as economics, business, music and art.
