The centre initially opened in the s; in early , the centre closed for a major re-build and expansion; it re-opened in August after an 18 month closure. The centre is located at Broadway and, since expansion, Broadway; it was often referred to simply as prior to refurbishment. Before refurbishment in and , the centre featured a Countdown and about 60 specialty stores. Praised were its positions as one of the best-performing centres in the country, though the reviewers noted that parking could be "a nightmare". This centre would be linked to the existing Broadway mall site by a two-level airbridge over Mortimer Pass. In February , the centre closed for a major extension project. The extension roughly double the size of the centre, and quadrupled the number of retailers. The shop expansion at Broadway had been planned for some time, and a general expansion of the Broadway site had been prepared for even before Westfield acquired the centre from Auckland One, who demolished a s office tower building to make way for the expansion. It was scheduled to open in phases, with the first stage opening between July and September

Volunteers are vital to the success of Westfield Farmers Market, and the Market Manager would like to thank the WFM volunteer staff, without whom this Market would not exist. Our volunteers bring a wide range of life experiences and talents to WFM to help cultivate a gathering place that connects our community with local farms, food vendors, crafters, and artisans. As we close out this season, the apples and fall produce are plentiful, there are Market Gift Certificates available to be purchased for the holidays they never expire!
