Open-source investigations using publicly available materials have been increasingly valuable in discovering the truth in highly politicized global issues. In court records, the FBI said, somewhat vaguely, that it found Teixeira through social media. The United States has a long and troubling history of mass shootings, with many of those who carry out such attacks leaving a trail of digital evidence. This case appears to be no different.
