It is a flat but craggy region that has traditionally been the home of the humans of Arathor , who gave the region its name. The main hubs of activity are now Refuge Pointe and Hammerfall , which houses bases for Alliance and Horde , respectively. The large city of Stromgarde lies in ruins to the southwest, and pockets of Syndicate resistance dot the land. The Boulderfist ogres also infest Arathor, and prove to be a constant threat to the Alliance , Horde , and Syndicate factions vying for supremacy.

There are cross faction patrols that walk along the roads to be careful of, and Arathi has terribly hard Elite quests that teach you about teamwork early on within the game, as this is one of the only areas where you cannot solo most of the quests. Arathi was also home to the first human capital, called Arathor League of Arathor being the Alliance Arathi Basin faction. It then slowly fell apart and seperated into numerous city states, such as Strom Now Stromgarde , Lordaeron, and Stormwind. Stromgarde Keep , also known simply as Stromgarde , [2] is the capital city of the kingdom of Stromgarde , located in the southwest of the Arathi Highlands. In ages past, the settlement was a cradle for human civilization, when it served as the capital of the Arathorian Empire under the name of Strom. By the time of the arrival of the Orcish Horde , it stood as a major power center as part of the Alliance of Lordaeron during and after some time following the Second War. Stromgarde was eventually sacked and left in ruins at some point after the events of the Third War , and remained in this condition for many years to follow. It was divided into three sections — one around the inner keep itself and under the rule of the Syndicate , the former mage district [2] largely under the control of the Boulderfist clan ogres with aid from the Witherbark trolls , while the last section remained under the control of the Stromgarde military and once served as the headquarters of Prince Galen Trollbane , until his death. The outbreak of the Fourth War brought a revival for the fallen capital. Supported by the Alliance and led by Lord Danath Trollbane , the League of Arathor fully re-established itself in Stromgarde and began restoring the settlement to its former glory.

The Syndicate, Boulderfist ogres and the beleaguered human defenders of Stromgarde battle for supremacy in this gray, dismal realm. Prince Galen Trollbane leads the human defenders, and his mighty city of Stromgarde is a ruined battleground where the three factions wage guerrilla war. To the south is the Thandol Span , a massive dwarven construction that bridges the canal between Lordaeron and Khaz Modan.

Seek Hammerfall in the northeast for safety as the horde , or walk into the small gorge of Refuge Pointe as Alliance in the center of the Highlands. Eastern Kingdoms category. Comment by Thottbot In Stormgrade, even the Elite mobs have gone. From the great city of Strom , the Human Empire controlled nearly all of the eastern lands.
