Neither one allows the player to have multiple households residing on the same lot. In The Sims 4 , apartments come in two varieties: in the worlds of San Myshuno from The Sims 4: City Living and Evergreen Harbor from The Sims 4: Eco Lifestyle apartments are similar to The Sims 3: Late Night apartments in that they experience Sims in the hallway and each apartment is considered a separate lot and thus cannot enter another apartment without a loading screen even though unlike Late Night, multiple apartments can be in the same building.

Apartments were added to the Sims 4 with the introduction of The Sims 4: City Living and I feel like they are one of the best additions to the game thus far. Apartments allow your sims to spend a bit less money up-front so they can really follow their virtual dreams and can be an awesome option for a starter home.
