Progress was made in when the organizers of Slam City Jam agreed to include a category for women, which was made up of primarily Vancouver skaters and star performances like Steamer and Jamie Reyes. The street contest was a jam format with twenty-six competitors divided into three heats, then ten skaters progressing to a final.
