Opened in January, Anita Deli Sandwich is catty-corner from Crystal Beer Parlor and more than fills the space vacated by its predecessor. In a little more than a month, she and Robert designed and built out the restaurant themselves, turning a blank canvas into a fully functional and well-fitted deli. The result is exactly what a little deli should look like: fresh white paint from floor to chair rail topped by reclaimed lumber planks to the ceiling, a handful of shabby-chic bistro two-tops, a brand-new cold case, coolers for drinks and takeaways, a long service counter bespoke built by Robert, and a tidy preparation space. Robert Rentz then pointed out a relatively new though obviously used horseshoe, now affixed to the front counter, a meaningful memento recently donated by a member of the Savannah Police Mounted Patrol.
