The carriageway was shut yesterday, April 16, from Uttoxeter heading towards Derby, with traffic reportedly backing up towards Blythe Bridge. Now Derbyshire Constabulary have confirmed two men died in the smash. They were both in a car that left the carriageway and hit a bridge pillar. The road was closed for most of the day while emergency services dealt with the aftermath of the crash which happened between the Toyota Island and Chellaston junctions.
