3 long beeps on boot
Connect and share knowledge within a single location that is structured and easy to search. Since some time my PC gives 3 beeps, pause, 3 beeps, reboot repeatedly on boot. Nothing on the screen. Googling for this beep code gave me no meaningful results it's certainly not a keyboard problem.

3 long beeps on boot
Three long beeps followed by two short beeps is a memory initialization error. This means that the memory has failed. If you only have one stick of memory it is very difficult to diagnose. If you have more than one stick, you can remove all of them and replace them one stick at a time in the slot closest to the processor and boot. Test each stick this way. It still does the same thing without ram though, I took out the ram to try to boot just into the bios and it still did the same exact thing, same beep code and everything. And each ram stick gives the same beep code, i cant try the original ram stick because i gave it to my brother and he won't let me test it, do you think I possibly could've shorted something on my motherboard? You will have to install at least one stick of memory in Slot 1 to see if it boots. I did that and now there's no beep code and no display output my system is just turning on my led strip and fans and then turning them off and on and off, do you think my motherboard is damaged? Or my cpu? If you have more than one stick of memory did you try all them one at a time? I don't believe that it is the motherboard.

Three beeps that repeat after a pause and occur when you power on your computer indicate a problem with the system memory. Three beeps that play and then stop as the computer starts successfully mean that the BIOS was restored. While some other programs may also have a three-beep sound, those that mean you need to take action and repair your computer will sound right as the computer operating system is turning on, and the tones will replay after a pause. The beeps will continue until the computer is powered off and will play again when it's on unless the problem is fixed. The first thing to do is remove any extra RAM you added to the computer before turning it on.
Ask a new question. I have a HP desktop running Windows Vista that won't boot up properly. When I turn it on it sounds like it's booting up, I hear the fan, the computer beeps 3 times in a row I'd say long beeps then pauses and beeps 3 times in a row again. Then nothing on the monitor, fan's still running. If I wasn't getting anything I would think the computer was on and that the monitor was saving energy.
3 long beeps on boot
Dell has a long tradition of building diagnostic indicators into our computers. These indicators can be useful in helping to diagnose and resolve any issues that your personal computer might experience while starting up. I have given a guide to the various codes for each family of desktop below. If the display cannot show any errors that your computer might emit a series of beeps during start-up. Three means …That is three beeps and three beeps and…: Endless looping until user presses the power button to shut down the computer. The delay between each beep is milliseconds.

Try doing this in memory slot B as well if it doesn't work when each module has been tried in slot A, in case it is a memory slot problem and not a memory module problem. I removed all devices attached to my PC. Thanks for your feedback. She has also worked as a teacher and a bioassay laboratory technician.
I could plug the monitor back in once the computer started and everything seemed to work fine.
Try using memory modules from the same manufacturer with the same part number and speed. Check for a faulty memory module by trying the memory in a known good system. Thanks, I'll try that next. I originally tried to embed the youtube video of this happening, but it didn't take. If so re-seating the ram modules seems to have fixed the 3 beep error code on startup. Improve this question.
