2016 kia sorento oil consumption recall
We have a Kia Sorento on three different occasions the Kia has burned all of oil between oil changes once around 30, changes the oil went back after driving it was fine at the next oil change it was still fine. At our last oil change at 69, it was low again changed it went back to recheck and it was two quart low. The cat also 2016 kia sorento oil consumption recall off at the red light but started back up with no problem.
Oil Consumption-Oil burning in the engine. Kia acknowledges that there is a known issue however; the solution would cost me to fix, and its not guarantee. Their solution was to buy a new car, which is not an option for me or allow the engine to crash so it can be replaced fully, which makes no sense. With so many complaints on this, unsure why they don't have it on a recall. I am exhausted in fighting with them and the Kia Customer Care line has stopped responding to my inquiries.

Researched, but after reading everywhere online, saw that this was about normal for a Kia, so I just kept adding. I think about 1 quart every miles, but I never measured accurately. I did notice the spark plugs were getting nasty. At k, it burnt a valve. Replaced the burnt valve. When I got back on the road, I measured the oil consumption, again was burning 1 qt about every miles no change at all! At k, another burnt valve. At this point, I thought: oil can only get into the cylinder from piston rings, valve seals, or the pcv. I thought, maybe I have bad valve seals, even though I don't have smoke. Pulled the head and did a top end rebuild all new valves, seals, etc. Before driving it, I thought that I would install an oil catch can to monitor any oil there.
Seems fishing and pretty dumb to me. I replaced air filter and cleaned throttle body on the intake side. Kia has had major recalls in the past for high oil consumption!

Now that would be consumer neglect, stupid I am not. Impossible to believe that by now, no one has done a thorough inspection of a few of them to find out. Goodbye Kia. Same problem here with our Kia Sorento. The valves are not cleaned by fuel in a direct injection engine, so they get dirty with deposits, cause detonation, and eventually burnt valves, requiring a top end rebuild. I am now starting the oil consumption test all over again because my engine is not only running rough on idling but you guessed it it's running low on oil! It was even suggested that I drive with the oil light on to get the engine replaced. Even though we mentioned it when we brought the car in for the engine recall at 96k miles. I didn't think anything of it, and went about my normal habits. I asked for my claim to reviewed by Kia Consumer, and they did, and say they also deny my request for reimbursement. So basically back to same level before I started this morning. I drive a Optima and recently had an oil change. Will they find anything? I replaced air filter and cleaned throttle body on the intake side. One more and I will be dealing direct with regional manager.
Nine problems related to engine burning oil have been reported for the Kia Motor Sorento.
We have the changed the oil every miles with Synthetic. Same problem. I think it a cheap pay out for their incompetence. Kia tried to claim it was bad oil initially, but when I inspected the motor at the dealer with the mechanic and the tech, there was ZERO sludge and ZERO evidence of lack of maintenance - obviously, because Mobil 1 is not going to cause oil related failures when changed as often as I have and do. He told me, "mam, I understand your frustration. Always Synthetic replacement - mostly replaced oil ahead of time. But, when you blocked off the entire engine from fresh air flow through the crank case. I as well. Philip answered 2 years ago. I called the then told them my oil was at the low mark. The reason this helped is because you are no long sucking air, with oil. Yup just another upset customer with Kia! Took it to the dealership and complained about it, they said there was nothing wrong with it. Have sorento 2.
