Car won't start and no noise but everything else comes on.
As always, I like to blog about tough fixes or oddball scenerios I come across. Read on if you want to see how I troubleshoot this, or jump to page 2 to see some notes regarding the actual fix. So yeah, roomy came home last week, parked his car as normal. Sure enough the battery was dead, something that tends to happen to older car batteries in the bitter cold here in PA. You guessed it, slapping in a new battery did NOT actually fix the problem! Is there something awry?

It has a push button start and from time to time did not start on the first try. Didn't think too much of it at first till it started taking longer and longer to start. It used to happen when the car was sitting for 8hrs or more. Door would open no problem but soon as I depressed the gas pedal and pressed the button lights on the dash would come on but nothing else. Brake pedal gets stiff to press. It's getting worse now. It took me over 10 min to start the car this morning!

The last two times, I found that if I simply leave the key in the ignition after two or 3 tries, sit there and ponder, what the heck am I going to do now??!?! But I have experienced several issues since I've owned it. I tried a number of the other suggestions, including slamming the doors, and cleaning the keys nothing. The biggest pain point actually is how buried the starter is, but also the fact that the oil filter lines are essentially in the way of both bolts you need to remove to get the starter out. I opened up the junction block and starting pulling relays and when I got to the IG1 relay it was very hot.

No one could figure out what was wrong. I believe this may have reduced voltage drop on old connections allowing the voltage to the final transistor to be high enough to engage the starter solenoid. Over time of use, the fuel filter can get partially or completely clogged. Had a problem with our Sonata starting. I tested the battery, the starter, and the fuses. Unfortunately, if your hand is not, I won't start because of a failed engine; you are in a tough critical situation where you might need to install a new engine to get your vehicle going. A small sample but I hope I am onto something. Car is under warranty. Sometimes you can get it to start by rotating the key in a circular motion but not lately. Generally, an issue such as this one is linked with battery issues or problems with the battery cables. Wondering if the push and hold trick works every time? Our process is very straightforward and won't take a lot of time or effort from you. It just went on, it has been warm outside and now its cold and snowing does that matter?
